GIGABYTE has developed a DRM Fix Tool for Z690 motherboards that seeks to improve performance and cure some of the DRM-related difficulties that 12th Gen Intel Core customers may be encountering when using their Alder Lake CPUs to run specific games. GIGABYTE has provided a direct link to the utility, but users need first confirm that their motherboards have been updated to the current BIOS version to assure compatibility. The company’s press release includes a list of GIGABYTE’s Z690 motherboards and their most recent BIOS versions.
The following is a quote from GIGABYTE’s press release:
Intel has delivered the newest 12th generation CPUs to the market earlier this month, with the benefits of modern architecture and great performance. Users should be advised, however, that the E-cores in processors may cause the DRM software to misidentify them as a different system. In response to this problem, GIGABYTE has released the updated GIGABYTE DRM Fix Tool for the 600 series platform. Users may simply turn on and off the E-Cores on the go using this Windows-based software, avoiding anomalous game behavior owing to the DRM problem.
To work, GIGABYTE’s DRM Fix Tool needs the most recent BIOS version. Without any laborious installation, users may simply manage the status of the E-cores using the UI of this software. Compared to alternative methods that involve altered BIOS settings, PS/2 keyboard connection, or even an unique button on the chassis and keyboard, GIGABYTE’s DRM Fix Tool gives a far simpler solution to the DRM problem.
Last month, Intel released a support article warning that some games may have difficulties operating on its newest Core processors, which use a hybrid design that combines performance and efficiency cores. Anthem, Legend of Mana, and Mortal Kombat 11 are among the titles that are impacted on both Windows 11 and Windows 10.
