Experts say gaming will be the first real use case for blockchain, revamping the industry and making games more immersive than ever. How gaming navigates the remaining hurdles will become a case study for other industries considering mass blockchain adoption. Topic: What Happened To The Allagans? – Category: Gaming Introduction:
The allagan tomestones of poetics are a type of currency that can be used to purchase items in the game. They were removed from the game with patch 3.3, and players have been wondering what happened to them ever since.
Final Fantasy XIV makes many references to the Allagan Empire.
They’re a long-forgotten civilisation that’s responsible for many of Eorzea’s technical wonders — as well as its perils.
Long before we entered the game, their ruler, Xande, had plunged them into darkness with his deeds.
What happened to them, though?
What happened to bring an empire that mastered bio-engineering, built artificial moons, and bent the laws of nature to its will to its demise and utter disappearance?
We’ll have to break down a few narrative elements to understand the significance of Allag to XIV’s history.
Warning: big Final Fantasy XIV spoilers ahead!
What Is Eorzea Like Today Because Of The Allagans?
Even today, remnants of the Allagan Empire may be seen everywhere.
Certain merchants accept Allagan Tomestones as payment, and they appear often as you advance through the main narrative.
The Crystal Tower Alliance Raid, which became obligatory in 2020, is our first significant exposure to them.
The Allagans constructed this enormous tower to store solar energy and power their immense technological empire.
It became a major narrative element in the Shadowbringers expansion, but it was easy to overlook until last year.
Azys Lla, a massive floating research center shown towards the conclusion of Heavensward, is also visited.
All of Allag’s scientific progress was focused here, and it’s where they developed the technology to tie the Primals we spend so much time battling against in contemporary times.
Emperor Xande, in his never-ending drive for dominance, sought new methods to bring the world to heel, tightening his hold on Eorzea.
But, as is customary, pride preceded the collapse.
Xande couldn’t stop pushing, couldn’t stop bending the rules of nature, unwilling to accept what he’d already achieved.
His dominion covered the majority of the globe, but not all.
His deeds would ultimately bring the whole Allagan Empire to its knees.
So, what happened to the Allagan Empire?
If you’ve gotten far enough into the XIV: A Realm Reborn narrative, you’ve probably heard a lot about Dalamud, Bahamut, and Allag.
All of these things are intertwined.
The artificial moon constructed by the Allagan Empire was named Dalamud, and it housed Bahamut, who would eventually break free and trigger a series of world-changing events.
Bahamut’s escape from Dalamud served as the trigger for Final Fantasy XIV’s transformation into the game it is now. But that’s an other tale…
The Crystal Tower and Dalamud are both part of the same process, which included developing technologies to store sun energy in order to power the Allagan Empire.
Bahamut was imprisoned inside it to act as a catalyst for energy gathering, and the moon was built so well that he would suffer for millennia.
And Xande was eager to capture Meracydia, a continent that had yet to be explored by the players (as of this writing).
It was the planet’s sole region that had stood up against him. And that was too much for his pride to bear.

In return for their power, he struck a deal with creatures from the World of Darkness to bring them into the world, and so he accomplished his final objective.
With the universe brought low in front of him and the limitless power of darkness in his grasp, Xande understood that all existence was meaningless and resolved to end it.
To do this, he had to transport the Cloud of Darkness via a portal, allowing her to wipe out all life on Eorzea.
Xande ordered that all of Dalamud’s sun energy be focused into the Crystal Tower at once, tearing it apart and unleashing the Cloud of Darkness.
However, the Tower was unable to contain such colossal force. It triggered an earthquake that destroyed the Allagan Empire’s fundamental core.
The tower sank into the ground, and the Empire that had become so dependent on its might faded away into forever.
Xande was buried alive in the Crystal Tower, where he would stay until the Warrior of Light and their allies stormed the tower and put a stop to his evil schemes once and for all.
But what was it that made the Allagans so bad?
They weren’t all terrible, after all.
It’s possible that Xande was simply a bad apple.
If this were any other game, I could give you a short overview of his personal reasons for going to such extremes for power.
However, there is one area in which XIV is really very easy.
It had been Ascians!
I understand – it’s a huge shock.
These people are to blame for almost everything that goes wrong.
I’d be shocked if the Warrior of Light didn’t point the finger at them everytime he or she stubbed his or her toe at this point.
But there was Emet-Selch in particular, a character we grow to appreciate on a far deeper level throughout the Shadowbringers series.
Emet-Selch encouraged Xande to extend his kingdom and conquer the globe, laying the groundwork for the Ascians’ ambitions to succeed.
However, this gives you a good sense of how far back Ascian scheming extends.
Five million years before humans arrived, the Allagan Empire was in existence.

The Ascians see the current state of affairs as totally unimportant because, well, it is.
They’ve seen an endless number of civilizations grow and die, and we’re simply another among them.
They specialize in bringing civilizations to an end.
And they’ve become quite good at it.
What would Eorzea be like now if the Ascians hadn’t brought Allag down?
Is XIV more science fiction than fantasy?
It’s fascinating to consider.
The Allagan Empire may have come to an end, and Emperor Xande’s ambitions may have come to fruition.
However, the Ascians are not yet extinct. We’ll have to wait till we get inside Endwalker to see how it all works out.
The legacy of allag is a game that was once popular. It has been removed from the App Store because it’s not compatible with iOS 11.
