The new Black Ops DLC, “Cold War” has just been released. This is the first Call of Duty game to have a Zombies mode since World at War’s Nazi Zombies. What does this mean for the future of Call of Duty?
The cold war zombies ending explained is a video that explains the final moments of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies Forsaken.
The Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has finally come to an end. The narrative was complex, as it had been in the past, and it left us with many unanswered questions. While we don’t know exactly what will happen with the Dark Aether narrative after Call of Duty: Vanguard, we can start by looking at what occurred with the Forsaken finale.
Before we get started, keep in mind that the implications of this ending may go in a variety of directions, and who knows how Treyarch will handle it in the future. We can make some educated assumptions, but only time will tell whether we are right. It should also go without saying, but there are spoilers coming.
Is Samantha Maxis’ story over?
Photographed by
Samantha Maxis and Eddie entered into a new world in Black Ops Cold War Zombies after they strolled into it from the conclusion of Tag Der Untoten in Black Ops IV. This game focuses on returning her to her abilities that we’ve seen before after she grew up and became a spy. Samantha’s soul has been cleansed after Monty took her away in Black Ops IV, which is one of the most significant developments since her origins. With this in mind, she decided to sacrifice herself by jumping through the vortex erupting from the Forsaken and returning to the Dark Aether.
Is she all right? Likely. Who knows whether Treyarch will forsake their star kid in the future. Samantha is a fighter, and we anticipate her to survive the Dark Aether, even after five years in the human realm, thanks to her abilities. Samantha is very certain to feature in the future Call of Duty game produced by Treyarch, or in a separate Zombies game if one is released. She won’t appear in Vanguard since the narrative is set in the 1940s, and she didn’t arrive in this new world until the 1960s.
What is Eddie up to these days?

Eddie Richtofen is the Director of Requiem, which is one of the greatest “surprises” from Forsaken’s conclusion. Not any other version of Edward Richtofen from prior Treyarch games, but the same Eddie that went between worlds with Samantha in Black Ops IV. What we don’t know is what he’s doing right now.
His letters to an unnamed organization trying to carry off something dubbed Project Janus, about which we have no information, are the most telling clues. We already knew he viewed Samantha as a danger, but what happens now that the Forsaken have been contained? Richtofen has a great plan in every form we’ve ever seen. I’m not sure what this one is.

This version of Richtofen, like Samantha, has been cleansed, but there’s a possibility he came into touch with the Dark Aether, which may bring forth his darker side. Samantha experienced some of the same sensations when on Firebase Z in the Dark Aether. However, our short examination of Eddie revealed a guy with no facial scars (except from a scar above his forehead) and who had likely never seen combat action.
You can see a photo of him with his wife and kid on his desk, which is distinct from anything we’ve seen in previous Richtofens, as well as what seems to be him coming out of a cockpit. In this scene, there are also a few Easter eggs, such as a snow globe with Monty’s home in it, which seems to be positioned exactly where Peck points in his scene.

While we may readily dismiss Eddie as bad for abandoning the rest of Requiem, he may behave in ways that are unfamiliar to us. We won’t know for sure until we see him in action and learn more about his strategy.
Eddie had Requiem arrested for what reason?

Eddie’s desire to have the whole Requiem crew removed stems from the fact that they know too much. Everyone on the crew had not only done extensive research on the Dark Aether and its power source, but they had also personally seen all of the breakout zones and, ultimately, what was imprisoned within that mechanical Pokéball. He may have imprisoned them to aid in the study of the Forsaken, or he may have known they would work against his intentions with Janus or whichever organization he is working with. We don’t think any of them are dead yet, but if the vision we received from the Forsaken is to be believed, that may change.
What is the purpose of Blacksite 13?
While Richtofen detained Carver, Grey, Strauss, and Weaver, he sent the attack squad we’ve been playing with to a location known as Blacksite 13. Because he mentions this rather than where the others are transmitted, we know this is a separate place. They are being detained for “indefinite confinement,” which is the sole hint. So, how does this affect the striking team? We’re guessing that the next time we push this narrative ahead, we’ll be playing as story characters rather than shells of people displaying whichever Operator skin you have on.
On the other hand, you might interpret this as our Operator skins being held in a separate jail in Japan, where Peck may be detained, but we believe that him visiting Weaver and the others is more interesting.
What is Peck up to these days?

After Requiem is locked up and Eddie is revealed to be the Director, we are transported to Japan five years later, where we learn that Peck escaped the gas explosion with Kravchenko and is now searching for “old friends.” If the Forsaken’s vision during his boss battle is to be believed, Peck will ultimately locate Carver, Strauss, Grey, and Weaver in whatever jail they are being held in, but they will perish.

Why is he on the lookout for these individuals? We couldn’t tell for sure. Eddie’s scheme may have been discovered, and Peck is trying to expose it. However, it’s possible that wherever they’re being held is the same location where Eddie is holding the Forsaken who were caught in the mechanical ball when Samantha sacrificed herself. Peck isn’t much of a hero, so he might be utilizing whomever he can to track down the Forsaken and perhaps do his own research on him. The Forsaken are very much alive, and Peck’s interference may lead to the deaths of these “old friends” at any moment, as we saw in the vision, which showed a brief view of a prison facility.
In the vision, who was on the wall?
Photographed by
In the Forsaken’s vision, you may have been preoccupied with the dead members of Requiem on the floor, but there was a very intentional marking of a person on the wall. With green eyes and red hair, they seem to be feminine. The inscription on the wall that says, “No one escapes alive,” reminds us of Alcatraz from Mob of the Dead, which may be a connection to that purgatory realm, but we’ve never seen the lady before. Her sparkling eyes show that she has some sort of power, although it is not purple like Samantha’s. In summary, this may be the next big evil, but as of this writing, we have no clue who it is.
How did Peck manage to stay alive?
Photographed by
We hear Peck and Kravchenko back and forth as they try to escape the zombie horde approaching them after discovering that Zykov is really the Forsaken. Until Kravchenko screams at Peck for unintentionally blasting a gas line, and an explosion cuts them off just before the boss battle. That explains Peck’s facial burns. Peck, like everyone else, may have been duped by the Forsaken, but he is still a genius who we think could recognize a gas line. We believe he took a calculated risk in killing Kravchenko by shooting the gas pipe (who could potentially be alive still as well, we never saw the body).
Peck knew Kravchenko would have murdered him if both he and Kravchenko had survived the zombie assault. He spotted an opening and blew the place up, fleeing with a burnt left half of his face to go along with his lost right eye.
